RAMC Officer's Wolseley Helmet c.1912
This pure white regulation helmet with pugaree is a classic Officer quality accoutrement from this period. It has original chin scales with slight damage in the leather band supporting the links. The ball top finial is correct for the medical services. The badge is small, but of very high quality. The helmet liner is a classic pattern with proper headband with venting. The lining is typical for Officers and is well made to the standard of a private purchase helmet meeting all military specifications. Maker marked by Hawkes & Co. London. However, there is some damage to the liner with some of the leather and silk lining cut out with scissors. No idea why. There is very minor marring on the white shell, not noticeable at all.
It can use some conservation, and I have a specialist who can make the repairs necessary to bring it back to life if one wishes to pursue some repairs. Otherwise a very good example of a Medical Officer Helmet for the pre and post World War One era parade service.
