This is a standard cavalry frock tunic for cavalry, having plain red cuffs. The Blue facing colours were only worn by the RCD. Never had collars attached, which is correct for 19th century tunics. In good condition, some thread loose at the shoulder, need minor repair. Some minor surface moth tracks noted and some staining from sweat and use on the back. Offered is a Highland Officer's private purchase 5 button, serge cutaway frock coat. The Officer gilt buttons are marked to the 5th Royal Scots (later the Royal Highlanders of Canada or Black Watch). Here is the standard Wolseley helmet worn by an officer. Overall very good condition, has yellowed with age loosing some of its crisp original white body and pugaree.
